Prudence Mathis
Prudence Mathis has a passion for helping others and is a well-known dot connecter and storyteller. In the spring of 2023, she became a Certified Public Relations Consultant (CPRC) and started her own business, Dear Prudence Consulting, which focuses on Public Relations, Communications, Social Media Strategies, and Community Engagement.
Having been a community advocate and volunteer for many years, in January 2019, after being recommended by the Mayor of Grand Prairie, she was offered an opportunity to work as the Public Relations and Awareness Director for the David Nicklas Organ Donor Awareness Foundation. Through her efforts, this 501(c)(3) nonprofit became better known locally as well as getting some nationwide exposure. In addition to working as the liaison with the organ transplant patients housed by the Foundation, she widely promoted organ donor awareness through many platforms and by thinking outside the box. She invited celebrity and pro athlete friends to share their stories, wrote published magazine articles, spoke to students from elementary age through college, and as a dynamic speaker was an invited guest on several radio shows, TV shows, YouTube interviews, and podcasts. She was also invited by The Girl Cave to be one of 10 women thought leaders to be filmed for a documentary.
Mentoring others is another passion. For twelve years, she mentored youth as a registered Adult Boy Scout Volunteer on the Troop 533, Mountain Lake District, and Circle 10 Council levels, and served as a Scout Master for a National Youth Leadership Training session. She earned her Wood Badge Beads in 2001. While Angelica-Jasmine Bates, formerly Miss Grand Prairie and Miss North Texas International and currently Miss DFW, Miss Texas for America, interned with The Nicklas Foundation, Prudence served as her mentor and continues in that role today. She is also mentoring a college student in Public Relations/Communications.
Prudence currently serves as a Board Member for Children First Counseling Center; Grand Prairie Chamber of Commerce (where she is also an Ambassador); Grand Prairie Family YMCA; Grand Prairie Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association (and annual Police Awards Banquet Chair for 2022 and 2023); Grand Prairie Rotary Club (Service Chair), and Grand Prairie United Charities. In addition, she serves on the Advisory Boards for GPISD CTE as well as on the GPISD South Grand Prairie Campus Improvement Committee. She is now in her second 3-year term appointed by the Grand Prairie City Council as a Commissioner on the Commission on Aging. In the past, she served on Advisory Boards for The Girl Cave and also You Can Live Again.

A referring real estate agent since 2017, Prudence has been involved in the real estate industry since September 2002, beginning as a real estate investor and becoming a licensed residential listing, leasing and buyer’s agent in May 2005. She holds memberships in National Association of REALTORS (NAR), Texas Association of REALTORS (TAR), and MetroTex Association of REALTORS.
Her diverse background also includes over 15 years of expertise in human resources encompassing employee relations, benefits, risk management, and workers compensation as well as extensive years of accounting experience including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll and Collections. Other experience includes supervision, training, team building, project management, and executive administration.

Outside of work, she enjoys making memories with her family, traveling, cultural events, and volunteering with nonprofits such as Salvation Army, Grand Prairie Homeless Outreach Organization, Source of Hope, Hope 4 All, Isaiah 117 House, Texas Ramp Project, Rise Against Hunger, North Texas Food Bank, All Kids Count, GPPD’s Santa Cop, Flags for Fallen Vets (she annually hosts the Grateful Hearts team of 75 volunteers to place flags at DFW National Cemetery each Memorial Day), Wreaths Across America, and Tango Tab Feed the City. With Tango Tab, she participated with others in breaking the Guinness World Record twice. In 2019, volunteers made the “Most Sandwiches Made in One Hour (57,662 sandwiches) and in 2014, the “The Most People Making Sandwiches Simultaneously (1363 people). In both cases, volunteers donated the food products and after the sandwiches were made, all food was donated to food organizations in North Texas such as Soupmobile, Salvation Army and the North Texas Food Bank.
